Hi! I’m Amelia. Thanks so much for stopping by. <3 I’m a native Mainer and moved to the Lake Norman region outside of Charlotte, NC in 2017. My husband, Matt, and I met as little freshmen in undergrad at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. He followed me to Philadelphia while I attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. During veterinary school, we adopted Jameson our sweet little pit bull who we’re crazy about. After graduating vet school in 2014, we got married. (Our wedding was one of the best days of my life and an event I look forward to sharing!) The same summer we moved to Pittsburgh while Matt attended business school. After many moves and going to school through all of our 20’s, we finally had the opportunity to move to North Carolina where we bought our first home. We hope to finally stay put in this wonderful state where everything shuts down in response to some flurries and we have 60 degree days in the middle of January.
I wear a few different hats: I’m a High Performance Health Coach, entrepreneur, and veterinarian! For years, I struggled with random crippling stomach pains and often felt bloated by the end of the day. I visited with doctors and was told that everything looked great and that I was “normal”. I felt helpless feeling like I just had to live with unpredictable discomfort. Eventually, I did my first Whole30 and that helped me to start recognizing the connection between the food I was eating and how I felt. I also started to recognize the impact stress was having on my overall health and slowly started to take control of my anxiety. Now I have a much calmer and positive mindset and I’m free of stomach pain and bloating!
I had to do a LOT of research and to become my own advocate in order to finally get relief from my GI discomfort. That’s why I gained my certification in Integrative Nutrition and started Life Boost with Amelia. Now I help other high-achieving professionals alleviate their GI discomfort and create a healthy lifestyle that leaves them feeling energized, happy, and comfortable and confident in their body. I absolutely love seeing the transformations my clients experience!
During my free time I love experimenting in the kitchen, staying active, traveling, and staying up to date on the latest wellness research and trends. I use this little space as an outlet to share all of these interests. You’ll also find some home decor sprinkled in and lots of adorable photos of Jameson, because…look at him.
My husband and I love exploring new restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries around Charlotte and Lake Norman on the weekends. I look forward to sharing our favorite cozy hangouts, date night spots, and go-to healthy restaurants, as well as any new finds that we adore. We live by the “work hard play hard” mentality so when we have time, we love traveling to new places. We try to find a balance of active adventures (like snorkeling in Australia, touring and tasting our way through Italy and Greece, and surfing in Hawaii) and relaxation (like Santorini, Mexico, and the Maldives).
Since purchasing our house, I have been busy decorating and making small improvement projects to our home. I love decorating with a combination of thrifting and DIY projects along with a few select investment pieces to create a beautiful space where guests feel comfortable within a reasonable budget. I also used that mentality when planning our wedding. We were able to create a fun and beautiful event for less than half of the average wedding cost.
My type-A personality loves organizing. I love tackling projects to help declutter and create a space that is practical, efficient, and easy to keep clean. My husband thinks we have too many baskets. You can never have too many baskets.
My parents are avid runners (they’re currently running a road race in every state!), so running has been a life long passion. After running a marathon, a running injury forced me to start focusing on the importance of strength training and flexibility. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with all sorts of programs including Insanity, Burn Boot Camp, Kick boxing, Youtube fitness channels, Alexia Clark, and even yoga. I love to be active and I’m always up for trying new fitness classes or spending time outdoors. Right now, I have a new focus on mobility and priming exercises to help with muscle activation and preventing injuries to help ignite a successful year of running, strength training, and yoga.
I love creating and eating healthy foods that are delicious and help me and my clients to feel great. And I want to share that passion with you! I truly believe anyone can learn to enjoy eating healthy foods – it doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming. In this space I’ll share tips I use with my clients to make healthy living easier. That includes easy go-to recipes for quick and satisfying meals and snacks made with real, whole foods.
